The evaluation of the overall quality of toner powder depends on these six factors: blackness, bottom ash, degree of fixation, resolution, waste powder rate, ghosting.

These factors are related to each other and affect each other. The reasons for these factors are explained below.


Blackness: The blackness value is calculated by the blackness tester emitting a certain amount of strong light beam, hitting the test pattern, reflecting back to the blackness tester, calculating the absorbed light beam, and then passing the fixed calculation program. The resulting value. The black level value of the toner is not the higher the better the printing effect, and the international black level value standard (ie, the original OEM) is 1.3. In order to meet the different needs of various industries, the company's average carbon black level is generally controlled at around 1.4.

 

Bottom ash: Bottom ash is a blackness tester that measures the darkness of a blank spot in a printed sample sheet. The reason for the bottom ash value is mainly the electrical and magnetic properties of the carbon powder. Each type of printer requires that the toner's electromagnetic properties are generally not the same. This is also a reason to emphasize the use of special powder. In addition, bottom ash can also be caused by the printer or the cartridge. The bottom ash value of the toner should be controlled below 0.005, otherwise the print proofs will be a bit dirty.

 

Fixing Firmness: Fixing Firmness refers to the ability of carbon powder attached to the surface of a paper to penetrate into the fiber after melting. The quality of the resin is a major factor affecting the firmness of the toner.

 

Resolution: Resolution refers to the dots (DPI) that can be printed per inch. The thickness of the toner particles directly affects the resolution. At present, the resolution of toner is mainly 300DPI, 600DPI, 1200DPI.

 

Waste powder rate: The waste powder rate refers to the proportion of waste toner produced by a given amount of toner in normal printing. The waste powder rate directly affects the number of sheets printed by a certain amount of toner. The standard requires that the waste toner content of the toner be less than 10%.

 

According to the form of ghosting, it is divided into two types: positive ghosting and negative ghosting. The ghost image that we usually say is that we have a text (or pattern) just below the text (or other patterns) in the same direction, but the density value (blackness) is much lower than that. . It is usually formed during the fixing process or the transfer process.
